Ashley Gatewood/Bio

Ashley Gatewood is a writer and equine artist residing in Kentucky. Her work explores the human condition and the future of humankind in the age of Artificial Intelligence. Story themes focus on the human condition, the complexities of being alive during the Age of Knowledge, and the moral and ethical decisions that are made not by the majority, but by the few. Her pastimes are frequenting art shows and hiking the mountains of Kentucky.

The Framework for my Ideas

This present time will mark a huge evolution in thinking concerning what the essence of a human being truly is and what it isn’t; what we should not or should become. I want my work to speak to this transitional time.

To challenge people to see things differently, to think through all sides of an issue and be able to do so without losing themselves or devolving the conversation into a competition is what we need as a society to move forward.

These discussions are needed, our thoughts need to shift and broaden in order to understand what is possible (for good and for evil) through technology and what is at stake. We need discussion, critical thinking, a bit more imagination and much more acceptance of the sovereignty of the individual person within the whole of society.

My Current Works In Progress & Short-term Publishing Goals

My current work is a speculative fiction novel which centers on what it means to be human and the moral choices and consequences during the age of Artificial Intelligence and human augmentation. Often, decisions are made in the shadows by the few, affecting the many.
